Professor Paul Chu was recently awarded the IEEE/Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society Merit Award by the Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). The award is the most prestigious award of the NPSS and is given to a distinguished scientist each year to recognize his/her outstanding contribution to the fields of Nuclear and Plasma Sciences. Professor Paul Chu was selected for this award for his contribution to the understanding, development, and applications of plasma-based surface modification and thin film deposition technologies. This award is no doubt a world class recognition  of Professor Chu and his group's  leadership position in the field of plasma science.
